Metal Product was awarded a business security certificate

Zagreb, 30 August 2012 - The Office of the National Security Council of the Republic of Croatia (UVNS) today awarded a business security certificate of SECRET level to Metal Product. Metal product, a company owned by entrepreneur Stjepan Šafran from Zagreb, after a verification procedure, met all legal requirements to participate in projects which are of SECRET level of secrecy.
As a part of certification, Metal Product's employees and management board members Stjepan Šafran and Saša Klikovac, passed the appropriate security clearance process, by which they, as natural persons, met all requirements to participate in projects of the mentioned level of secrecy. This also refers to participation in NATO classified tenders, which sometimes require having an appropriate certificate of business security, which are issued by the competent national security authority. Metal Product is the 35th company which has been awarded that certificate in Croatia, and it is the first production company among small and medium-sized enterprises which received the certificate. Validity period of the certificate is 5 years.
At the award ceremony, the Head of the Office of the National Security Council of the Republic of Croatia, Petar Mišević, said that without this Certificate it would be difficult to achieve business ambitions on an international level. In order to encourage businesses to get business security certificates, UVNS in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy and the Croatian Chamber of Commerce launched a series of activities. Currently, more than 40 Croatian companies are in the process of certification.
The certificate is awarded exclusively to legal entities which conclude a classified contract with government bodies from the Republic of Croatia or EU/NATO members, or to legal entities interested in participating in NATO classified tenders. This included Metal Product into a registry of NATO business entities, which currently has about 10.000 companies from 28 countries.
Stjepan Šafran thanked for the awarded certificate and said that Metal Product, which celebrates its 45 years this year, has been paying special attention to people, since they are a foundation for a safe and reliable business, and especially to regular payment of wages and all contributions as well as orderly settlement of taxes and contributions to the society.
